| A native of Warsaw, Poland. I've been interested in paleontology since childhood. I studied biology and geology at University of Warsaw. I earned M.Sc. degree (cum eximia laude) in biology. During my studies, my first papers were published in scientific journals of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Immediately following the completion of my Master's studies, I joined the staff of the Museum of Earth of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, where, as a research scientist, I carried out electron microscopy investigations on the Baltic amber and its inclusions. Since 1981, I was a member of the well-known Professor A. Urbanek's Unit for Graptolite Research in the Zaklad Palezoologii PAN (now Roman Kozlowski Institute of Paleobiology, Warsaw). In 1983, I was awarded the Doctor's degree in biological sciences. I was always strongly involved in the Polish Left, in spite of my noble title, the Count of Calmont. That is why in some spheres I am still called the "Red Count" or the "Red Spider" (sic!). Since 1977, I was an active member of the PZPR (Communist Party of Poland). After the complete collapse of communistic rules in Poland, I got the sack. I am a Deputy Director General of the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK. In addition, I am conferred with a honorary appointment to the Research Board of Advisors at The American Biographical Institute, Inc. Moreover, I am a member of: International Biographical Association, The Paleontological Society, Paläontologische Gesellschaft, and of the Rosicrucian Order. I have two children, a son and a daughter. My daughter Lidia is a student of veterinary medicine and my son Peter is a well-known lawyer. Moreover, I am a very happy owner of five dogs (Dogue de Bordeaux, Doberman pinscher, bulldog, dachshund and chihuahua), five cats, and... a wonderful rat called Marushka! I am a biographee of 1000 World Leaders of Scientific Influence and 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century. |
